1. The nominal input voltage range of the driver chip should meet DC8-40V to cover the needs of the application surface, and the voltage is better if it is greater than 45V; AC12V or 24V input when the simple bridge rectifier output voltage will fluctuate with the grid voltage, especially when the voltage is high the output DC voltage will be high, such as the driver IC can not adapt to the wide voltage range, often in the grid voltage will be broken down, LED light source is also burned.


2. The nominal output current requirement of the driver chip is greater than 1.2-1.5A, as the LED light source for lighting, the nominal working current of the LED light source with 1W power is 350mA, the nominal working current of the LED light source with 3W power is 700mA, and the power needs greater current. Therefore, the driver IC selected for LED lighting must have sufficient current output, and the driver IC must be designed to work in the optimal working area of 70-90% of the full negative output. The driver IC with full negative output current does not dissipate heat in the narrow space of the lamp, which is easy to fatigue and early failure.


3. The output current of the driver chip must be constant for a long time, and the LED light source can emit light stably, and the brightness will not flicker; The same batch of driver chips are used under the same conditions, and the output current size should be as consistent as possible, that is, the dispersion should be small, so that the production can be effective and orderly on the mass automated production line; For the output current has a certain dispersion of the driver chip must be selected before the factory or put into the production line, adjust the current setting resistor (Rs) resistance value on the PCB board, so that the production of LED lamps constant current driver board of the same kind of LED light source luminous brightness is consistent, maintain the consistency of the final product.


4. The package of the driver chip should be conducive to the rapid heat dissipation of the driver chip tube core, such as the tube core (Die) is directly bound to the copper plate, and a Pin is directly extended to the outside of the package, which is convenient for direct welding on the copper foil of the PCB board to conduct heat rapidly. For example, on a silicon wafer core similar to 4X4mm, to pass 300-1000mA current for a long time, there will be power consumption, there will be heat, and the physical heat dissipation structure of the chip itself is also crucial.


5. The anti-EMI, noise and high-voltage resistance of the driver chip itself is also related to the success of the entire LED lighting product through CE, UL and other certifications, so the driver chip itself should choose excellent topology structure and high-voltage production process at the beginning of the design.


6. The power consumption of the driver chip is required to be less than 0.5W, and the operating frequency of the switch is required to be greater than 120Hz, so as to avoid visible flicker caused by power frequency interference.
